Today’s Thought
Mercy begins with God, but God did not leave His mercy as an idea for us to understand from a distance. We EXPERIENCE His mercy through Jesus.
Jesus shows us what the mercy of God looks like. He moved toward people others overlooked. He welcomed sinners, touched the hurting, forgave the guilty, and ultimately gave His life for us.
That means mercy is personal. It is not simply something God has; it is something He has shown you through Jesus.
Today, don’t rush past that truth. Remember where Jesus met you, forgave you, carried you, or gave you hope. The mercy we are learning to give begins with the mercy we have personally experienced.
Pray
“Jesus, thank you for making the mercy of God real and personal to me. Help me remember how you have met me with grace, forgiveness, and compassion. Let my experience of your mercy shape the way I see and treat people today. AMEN.”
Today’s Mercy Step
Take a few minutes today, while you are working, exercising, or simply “still” before God, and finish this sentence: “I have experienced the mercy of Jesus when…”
Thank Jesus specifically for what comes to mind.
Following Jesus by loving the people right in front of us…or next door,
