Isaiah 58:6-10

Week 3: Wednesday

Today’s Scripture

Isaiah 58:6-10

This Week’s Memory Verse

“…who (God) comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” 2 Corinthians 1:4 NIV

Psalm

Psalm 90:17 NIV

“May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us, yes, establish the work of our hands.”

Proverbs

Proverbs 3:27 NIV

“Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act.”

Today’s Thought

When God describes the kind of fasting he desires, he names real needs: hunger, oppression, homelessness, and a lack of clothing. His call is not vague. The people are to change how they treat others and take practical steps to relieve suffering. We may not be able to address every problem, but we can respond to a need within reach. A meal, a ride, help with a task, or a thoughtful visit can become an expression of genuine devotion. We do not earn God’s favor through these actions; we respond because His mercy is shaping us.

Pray

“Jesus, keep my compassion from stopping at good intentions. Show me a real need and give me willingness to respond. It is in Your Name I pray this, AMEN.”

Today’s Mercy Step

Identify one practical need you can help meet today. Ask what would actually be useful, then follow through.
