Today’s Thought
After the Samaritan saw the man and felt compassion, Luke 10:34 says, “He went to him…”
That small sentence changes everything
The priest saw the need and moved away.
The Levite saw the need and moved away.
The Samaritan saw the need and moved toward it.
Mercy moves
The Samaritan did what he could with what he had. He bandaged wounds. He used his oil and wine. He provided transportation. He gave his time. He paid for care. He even planned to return.
You may not be able to fix someone’s entire situation today. Jesus is not asking you to solve every problem around you.
But there may be one step you can take:
- a phone call
- a meal
- a ride
- an encouraging word
- sitting with someone who is hurting
- meeting a practical need
You don’t have to do everything……to do something.
Pray
“Jesus, when You show me a need, give me courage to move toward it. Show me what I can do with what You have already placed in my hands. Amen.”
Today’s Mercy Step
Choose one need you have noticed this week and take one concrete step toward it today. Keep it simple and practical.
